LINDBERGH SCHOOLS FOUNDATIONThe Lindbergh Schools Foundation (LSF) is an independent,
501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the Lindbergh Schools’ commitment to excellence in all facets of education. OUR MISSION1. Endow and administer funds that award scholarships to
Lindbergh High School students. 2. Support programs and projects in the Lindbergh Schools that enhance the educational experience for students. 3. Strengthen the bond between the Lindbergh Schools, their alumni and the Lindbergh community. HISTORY
The Foundation was founded in 1998 by a group of Lindbergh parents who shared a strong commitment to education, the Lindbergh Schools and especially to the students of the Lindbergh Schools. They had the foresight to envision a time when traditional sources of funding for public education would no longer be adequate to meet increasingly more complex educational challenges. The founding board realized that additional resources for significant funding would be needed to maintain the high level of excellence that had long been a trademark of the Lindbergh Schools. The commitment was then made to lead the effort to raise those additional funds. SCHOLARSHIPS The first efforts of LSF were directed toward funding college scholarships for Lindbergh High School seniors. Over the years, the Foundation Scholarship program of the Foundation has expanded to include the financial management and administration of 16 scholarships established in the name of Lindbergh administrators, teachers, coaches or alumni, in addition to the original Foundation General Scholarship. Funding for the Foundation General Scholarship is provided through the purchase of Spirit Bricks in the LHS Spirit Garden, through payroll deductions from the Lindbergh staff, and through direct donations from supporters. TEACHER GRANTS The Spirit of Lindbergh Fund and the Spirit of Lindbergh Teacher Grants program were established to encourage and support the efforts of district teachers who propose innovative projects to engage their students in more creative and exciting ways. Since January 1, 2008, the Spirit of Lindbergh Teacher Grant Fund has grown to more than $130,000 and 121 Lindbergh teachers have received grants of up to $500. In addition, the prestigious Spirit of Lindbergh Society boasts 24 members, each of whom has donated a cumulative total of at least $2,000.
ABOVE & BEYOND INITIATIVE The Foundation partners with existing programs within the district and also helps new programs that enhance the student experience. For the past several years, the Foundation has partnered with the High School's History Alive Program. Each year, during five full-day events, over 1,000 LHS students meet with almost 150 veterans who share their first-hand war experience and the history behind it. |
